About JaneJane is Pacific Northwest born and raised, has two grown sons, and lives in Tucson, AZ. Many years ago while visiting friends in Mt Shasta, CA with her one year old son, Jane found herself with a couple of beadwork artists and they taught her an embroidery and a looming technique using small Czech glass seed beads. She was given the info for Grey Owl Trading Post and in just a few days she had found a new outlet for her artistic spirit and a craft to help support her child. Over time, with the help of a few pamphlets on stitches from the trading post, she developed her own unique style and designs. Back then patterns weren't available so she put together or invented whatever techniques would work to implement her design visions. She sold her beadwork through shops and boutiques, juried art and craft fairs including the University District Street Fair, The Folklife Festival and the Bellevue Art fair in the Northwest, and the FAMA, MAMA and Fountain Hills Fairs in Arizona in the winters as well as many more juried fairs. Her work was shown in the Burke Museum and other museums and showcases on the west coast.

Eventually Jane opened a brick and mortar (literally) bead store in picturesque Port Townsend, WA (Istheria Beads), joined the Northwest Bead Society in Seattle, and really got into learning all about antique trade beads as well as gemstone and glass beads. Her store flourished during the "bead renaissance" of the early 1990s and she showed the wound glass, ceramic and fimo beads of up and coming bead makers around the northwest as well as selling all kinds of beads, teaching beading classes and designing her one of a kind beadwork.

Life changed and she left Port Townsend, did accounting work in Seattle and eventually migrated to the Southwest due to working as a talent manager for actors in Los Angeles. Jane ultimately settled in Tucson, AZ, the perfect place to access SW turquoise and to attend trade shows in Tucson, Denver, Las Vegas and California for gemstones and trade beads. So, in Tucson, Janes Beads and Arts was born, first as a store on eBay, then an ETSY shop (both of which are still active) and now with beautiful Jewelry on this site! Time permitting, Jane still designs and handcrafts her own beadwork and fine beaded jewelry and each creation, whether a pair of earrings, a pendant or woven piece, is unique in design and/or color combination and made with love and respect for craft.
