About Our Jewelry Styles: Jane designs and makes all of her JBA Jewelry and curates and selects in person all other artisan jewelry. JBA jewelry pieces are one of a kind original designs and encompass design styles from Bohemian to Victorian to Southwest to Fine jewelry looks and beyond. There is something for everyone and Jane believes you should wear what speaks to you and that all jewelry and accessories are gender neutral.
About our Jewelry materials: We have been sourcing for decades and have great relationships with manufacturers around the world and here in the US. Jane hand selects in person all gemstone beads, cabochons and trade beads for her own designs and curates and hand selects all of our other artisan crafted jewelry as well. She has extensive experience with Trade Beads, SW turquoise, Baltic Amber and other Gemstones.
Our Gemstone beads and cabochons are all genuine solid stone and never dyed. We partner with a number of manufacturers depending on the type and quality of stones they carry and we hand select in person.
Our SW Turquoise is sourced and hand selected from the miners, or the folk who stabilize and manufacture the beads. Our Turquoise, like most on the market, is usually stabilized. Our manufacturers use clear resin or the Zachary method. Our Turquoise is never dyed and is never imitation, pressed or reconstituted. Unstabilized Turquoise when available is clearly marked.
Our Baltic Amber beads and cabochons are sourced directly from the manufacturers. We partner almost exclusively with two Lithuanian suppliers that we meet with one or two times a year to hand select our materials and artisan crafted jewelry.
Our Trade Beads are sourced directly from African Traders and are hand selected up to three times a year. They are marked Antique (old European glass) or Handcrafted in Africa (vintage to new) or Vintage. We also sometimes partner with another source who brings us Antique beads from various parts of Asia and Indonesia, some originally made in Europe and some made in Asia.
Our Findings and Metal beads come from a variety of sources. Our ear wires are made from .925 Sterling, 14/20 Gold-Filled, 14/20 Rose Gold-Filled and Hypoallergenic Niobium and we never carry plated earwires. The quality is very good and they are made with 20 gauge wire for substance and comfort. Our fine metal beads, clasps and findings are .925 Sterling and 14/20 Gold-Filled, or Artisan made .925 Sterling, .966+ Hilltribe Silver and Vermeil (18-22K Gold over Sterling). We use solid Copper and Brass calibrated beads and findings and also have solid handcrafted Copper, Brass and some mixed Silver/Nickel metal beads from our trade bead sources. . We sometimes use US made TierraCast with Fine silver, 22K Gold, Copper or Brass plate over lead-free pewter charms, links and clasps. They have a nice heft and hold up very well over time. Metal types are clearly stated in our listings
Materials we don't utilize: We choose not to carry or use any Plastic, Bone (except dinosaur bone), Wood, Shell or Coral beads/cabochons. We never use dyed, reconstituted or artificial gemstones or cabochons.
Photos: We take lots of photos from different angles in Sun and Shade and under LED lighting to give you the most accurate representation of the product and color as possible. Note that your monitor might read differently but we strive for consistent color from eye to camera to our monitors to the listing views.
